Qualified and Experienced Garden Designer

I am a garden designer with a love of creating bountiful, biodiverse and beautiful spaces in which people can find their peace.

Trained at the Garden Design School at Bristol's Botanic Gardens, with further training from the London College of Garden Design and The Landscape Academy. I have also worked at the San Francisco Botanical Garden and on large scale landscaping projects throughout the Caribbean. Now rooted back in the UK I am taking on projects across the South West.

My design style is somewhat contemporary yet often features

naturalistic and wild planting schemes.

I am a trained herbalist and enjoy introducing my clients to the healing properties of the plants, which we may introduce to their garden designs. Having studied at the renowned California School of Herbal Studies I am now continuing my Herbal Medicine studies here in the UK.

"Richard and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all of your detailed efforts in creating a dream garden for us!

You listened to what we asked for, guided us through our mistakes and designed exactly what we wanted!

It is now flourishing, and any friends and family visiting, who recall the boggy paddock that was, are in shock at the manicured, yet natural looking vistas that now reside in the garden. The end area is full of life and the meadow planting a triumph. My favourite is the more ‘formal’ garden which can be seen from all views from inside the house.

Exactly what we wanted!

We cannot recommend you enough, to any potential clients wishing to make the most of the land they have!

You were worth every penny, and we love that you still return to check on how plants are thriving and reminding us to weed!” - Mrs Allen

1

Initial Consultation

A free of charge consultation where we meet at your property to discuss your thoughts, needs and ideas for your outdoor space!

2

Outline Concept Plan

Following our consultation and any further discussions I will create an Outline Concept Plan! A precise and to scale 2D aerial drawing of your new garden design! This will show all hard landscaping features such as paths and paving, as well as which areas will be planted and the positioning of major trees and shrubs. This plan will form the basis from which the garden will be built.

At this stage I may also show you sample materials and additional sketches, as well as share thoughts regarding the style of planting, to give you a thorough understanding of the concept!

3

Contractors & Construction Drawings

The next step is to work with you to establish who will build the garden! Should you choose to progress to this stage I will aid you in liasing with contractors and will supply them with any necessary technical drawings!

Once the hard landscaping is done I often handle all the planting for my designs myself. I will take ample time to discuss plant choices with you and recommend certain plants, themes and colour schemes. Some clients love to be really involved in this part of the process which is great, and other times clients are happy to leave me to it! Whether its a wildflower meadow or a more formal scheme this is where the garden really comes to life!
